Are You Free?

Look closely...
What do you see?
It is a sculpture of a bird caught in barbed wire.

This morning I woke up thinking about wounded birds.
Why you ask?  I believe it is because there are so many wounded people that are just tangled up, and long to be free in their minds, their emotions, or maybe from a bodily ailment that has crippled their lives in some way.

Free.  Just saying that word causes emotions to spring forth out of the heart.
Free to live, free to love, free to express one's heart, free to be honest, free to be open, free to enjoy life!
It is sad that we have all learned so many opposite lessons in life.  If I say the wrong thing at the wrong moment, or make the wrong choice or decision, or don't put on the right face for the right people...then what???

I think of Jesus....now, you know I would!!!  God IN flesh.  God IN FLESH!!!  Life that knew no boundaries chose to wrap Himself in the time restricted limitations of our humanity.  God, Who, flung the stars out into the vast heavens, began His human life in the darkness of the womb of a virgin.

God, Who rides on the clouds, strapped humanity on His feet and walked on the same dust that you and I walk.  God, Who spoke and it was created for His glory, thirsted on a cruel cross, abandoned by the very creation that came forth from His heart in delight.

He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities.  The punishment that all those who had been born under the curse of sin deserved, was put upon Him, and with those flesh piercing wounds that caused His pure blood to flow....we...OH, GOD!!...we, who were so very dead in our sins, received of that blood that brought first of all eternal freedom to our spirits.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough...He came to RESTORE our souls.  He came to give peace to the troubled, sanity to the confused and burdened mind, comfort to those broken by grief and sorrow, a path to follow for those who had been led astray by the wiles and deceits of the wicked one.

He came to untangle our lives by mercy and grace.  He was fearless in His mission to grab those barbs that cut and wound, and remove them in such a way that they leave no permanent scar upon our hearts.  Thank You, Jesus...thank You!

What is wrapped around you today?  For me, it is sometimes forgetting that marvelous grace, and I will allow satan to hound me with past failures and mistakes.  But, it only takes a little time of "looking" again at eternal words of hope and love to make me realize that the Son has set me free.  Oh, I long for complete freedom; that freedom to no longer be bound to this earth, but while I am here...I run, run, run to the pasture of my Lord, eat of His Living Bread, drink of His Living Water, and rest, yes, rest under the shadow of His wings.

Psalms 91, Psalms 103, Psalms 23, Psalms 27:13, Psalms 37:4, Romans 6, Galatians 2:20, 2 Peter 1:3

Grace, grace....God's grace...grace that is greater than all our sin!
