(my thoughts).......the very first word of Isaiah 53:4 to me is the trumpet sound that gives confidence to anyone who is in need of healing whether it be physical, mental, or emotional. Surely. I'll type it again. Surely. Lets all say it together....SURELY!!!!
Looking in Roget's International Thesaurus, the complete book of synonyms and anotnyms, the amplified meaning of SURE is:
1. Certain, sure, sure-enough, positive; absolute; unqualified; determinate; definite; unequivocal; categorical, unmistakable; decided; sure as God made little green apples (love that one!); as sure as I live and breath (slang), sure as preaching (hey!!!!), undoubting.
I like the third one..."sure enough". In Texas it would be said.."sure nuff!"! Sometimes, folks, we just need to dig a little deeper into the meaning of words to get all the juice out of the orange, so to speak. We also need to "feel" the depth of emotion that the Holy Spirit placed on that word...SURELY!!!
Then from there......looooooooook at those next glorious, anointed, dripping with grace words, He HAS borne our griefs, sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses AND carried our sorrows and pains of punishment, (Verse 4). Now jump down to verse 5...."But He WAS wounded for OUR transgressions, He was bruised for OUR guilt and iniquities; the chastisement (needful to obtain) peace and well-being for US was upon HIM, and with the stripes (that wounded) Him we ARE healed and made whole. (emphasis mine)
Do you know why a doctor hangs his degree in his examining rooms? It is to "assure" the patient that he has studied his required field in order to practice on us. When you go into the room do you ask him or her to give you a copy of that diploma, then go to the school where they graduated and demand assurance that they aren't lying to you? No!!! You and I will take at face value that the diploma is a valid, state approved instrument, granting that doctor to poke and prod and stick and administer medicines. We believe it because we SEE it. That is called natural faith based on one of the five senses of the body.
But, when it comes to Biblical truth, we cannot approach it with the natural senses because it is supernatural or above the senses truth. II Timothy 3:16 says...."Every scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and PROFITABLE for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, (and) for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action)".
God's Words are Spirit words, and not of this world. I love Isaiah 55 where it is written that " God's Word will not return to Him void (empty-handed) but will accomplish what He sends it forth to do". Jesus, in John 1:1 is called "the Word made flesh". He is the physical representation of the supernatural Presence of the Almighty God.
Even in the Old Testament, God provided healing for Israel. He has never changed. Psalms 107:20 boldly states..."He sends forth His Word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction." Someone shout hallelujah with me!!!!
But...how do "I" partake of this, Charlotte? Let me recommend some very good books for you to read BESIDE the Bible. First, search God's Word!!! His Word is alive. His Word becomes alive in us! His Word is sent to create His Life IN us!!! Get that first. If it is difficult for you to grasp it, then read...F.F. Bosworth's...."Christ, the Healer". Every Christian should have this book.
Go to the strange part of your local Bible bookstore. You know...the one that has the "fruits, nuts and flakes" section....Charismatic!!! Just wear dark glasses! Nobody will see you!! Then look for Smith Wigglesworth or as a friend of mine calls him..."Wiggly Smith". A few others are Andrew Murray, A.B. Simpson, John Osteen (not Joel), Charles Capps, and so many more. These are people who have experienced the fullness of the Spirit and have first hand testimonies of the healing grace of God.
I, for myself, have seen people healed and deliverd. I received a miraculous healing of my right leg. It grew at a healing meeting by Brother Dave Roberson (another excellent minister). Is it true because I have "seen" it? No. It is true because the Word of God declares it. This is the basis of all blessings. Mark 11:23 says..."whatsoever things you desire, WHEN you pray...BELIEVE THAT YOU RECEIVE AND YOU SHALL HAVE!" (emphasis mine).
I cannot believe until I am convinced. God's Word will convince you if you give Him enough time to do so. His Name IS Jehovah-Rapha. Not "was". He has sent the Holy Spirit to teach you what is truth so that the Word can correct any error that currently resides in your soul.
Watchman Nee in his book, "Spirit, Soul and Body", wrote..."God works from the inside out". In other words, God is going to use His Word to eradicate the unbelief that is in our hearts, so that faith can be released to do its work. He gave us His faith (Galatians 2:20), therefore we can "believe that we receive". We can grow in our confidence toward His Word (see the blog from December 8th). You have to get the Living Word of God planted in your mind.
Once planted....KEEP IT!! Don't doubt. Don't let the symptoms speak louder to you than the Voice of God. I love the name of our church bookstore..."The Shepherd's Voice". It means to me that Jesus is speaking His Word. Come and believe. Come and receive.
Right now you might be hurting. Right now you may be facing some scary stuff! God, Jehovah Shammah, is with you. God, Jehovah-Jireh, has made provision for you. God, Jehovah-Nissi, has defeated the enemy for you. Lift His Name in praise today! Surely...surely....surely, Jesus HAS made a way for you. Use that faith of yours. Believe and receive.
I love Mark 16:18, where Jesus told His disciples...."they will lay hands on the sick, and they WILL recover." This is still true today. I have seen instantaneous healings and I have also seen people recover over a period of time. But, they all believed. They all received. They all grew deeper in their knowledge of Jehovah-Rapha.....the Great Physician of His people!!!
