2012..The Gift of the Blank Page

One More Gift.....

2012 is a blank page for all of us.  It is a gift from God,  and we have the privilege of writing on it what we choose.   You may say...."Well, I don't know what this year will hold for me, so how can I choose what to write?"  Very logical thinking, but again, God helps us to make "right" choices which leads to "right" paths, which opens the door for His involvement in our affairs.

     Let's look at it this way instead.  What are the BEST choices I can make this coming year?

(1)   Proverbs 3:5-10

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.  Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.  It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.  Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine..."

(2)  Psalms 101 (chosen verses)

"I will sing of mercy, I will behave myself wisely, I will walk within my house in integrity, I will set nothing wicked before my eyes, I will not know wickedness, my eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, he who works deceit shall not dwell within my house, he who tells lies shall not continue in my presence..."

(3)  I John 1:15-17 (a personal confession or declaration)

"I will not love the world or the things in the world, for loving the world is not knowing the true love of the Father.  All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father.  This world is passing away, and the lust of it; I will abide in the Lord, and it will be my forever place of rest and refuge."

     2012 - what will it be?  Don't leave it to chance or to the deceptive thought that you and I have no way of knowing.  We can "know" that God has the plan for this coming year.  We have to choose to yield ourselves, our lives, our families, our choices, our paths, our hopes, our dreams to the One Who knows the plans for our lives.  It is a day by day choice.  Yes, we can get caught up again in the whirlwind called life, and be swept away with all that it contains, OR.......OR.......OR......OR...we can determine, we can choose, we can set a course that places God in the highest position of our hearts, and humble ourselves to His wisdom.

     My favorite, all time, eternal promise from my God is found in Psalms 27:13-14...."I would have lost heart, unless I HAD BELIEVED that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."  (emphasis mine).

     This is what we all must learn to do for 2012....BELIEVE.  There is the God of heaven and earth Who never leaves, nor forsakes, and Who sees you and I.  He LOVES us!  Believe that!!  He wants to daily travel and assist us. Believe that.  He wants to lift burdens and give joy!  Believe that.  

     He wants to take the blank pages of 2012 and help you and I write wonderful words and stories of faith for others to read.  Give Him the pen of your life.  King David wrote..."my tongue is as the pen of a ready writer".  Open up your 2012 to God.  Take each day to Him.  Ask Him to come in, and then choose to get to know the One Who made that day for you to rejoice and be glad in.

I won't wish you a Happy New Year.  I wish you a Wise New Year, a Determined New Year, a New Direction Year.  God Bless each day of your year with a wise, yielded, trusting heart.
